Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 6, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how One Life Studios LLC (“One Life Studios LLC”, “we”, “us”), the company behind BFFR (“Be For Real”), collects, uses, shares, and protects your information when you use our app, website at bffr.social, and related services (the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to this Policy.
1. Information we collect
We collect the following categories of information:
- Account information — such as your username, email address, password, and any profile details you provide.
- Content you post — the questions, photos, videos, polls, votes, comments, and reactions you share, including associated metadata.
- Usage data — how you interact with the Service, such as posts you view, votes you cast, features you use, and time and frequency of activity.
- Device & technical data — device type, operating system, app version, identifiers, IP address, and general location inferred from it.
- Cookies & similar technologies — used by us and our analytics providers to operate and understand the Service (see Section 4).
- Communications — messages you send us, such as support or partnership inquiries.
2. How we use information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, operate, maintain, and improve the Service.
- Show you relevant posts, polls, and a personalized voting feed.
- Keep BFFR safe by detecting and preventing abuse, spam, fraud, and policy violations.
- Communicate with you about your account, updates, and support.
- Understand how people use BFFR through analytics, and develop new features.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.
3. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as follows:
- With other users — content you choose to make public (such as your posts, votes, and comments) is visible to others, subject to your settings and any anonymous-posting features.
- With service providers — vendors that help us run BFFR (such as cloud hosting, analytics, and customer support), under contracts that limit their use of your information.
- For legal reasons — to comply with law, respond to lawful requests, or protect the rights, safety, and security of BFFR, our users, or the public.
- In a business transfer — in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, with notice as required by law.
4. Cookies & analytics
We and our providers use cookies, SDKs, and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, measure performance, and understand usage. You can control cookies through your browser or device settings; disabling some may affect how the Service works. Where required, we obtain consent for non-essential cookies.
5. Data retention
We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service, and afterward only as necessary to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, and enforce our agreements. When information is no longer needed, we delete or de-identify it.
6. Data security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your information. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please protect your account credentials and notify us at support@bffr.social if you suspect unauthorized access.
7. International users
BFFR is operated from the United States. If you access the Service from outside the U.S., you understand that your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the U.S. and other countries whose data-protection laws may differ from those in your country.
8. Children’s privacy
BFFR is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If we learn that we have collected such information, we will delete it. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us information, contact us at support@bffr.social.
9. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or port your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can manage much of your information directly in the app, or make a request by emailing support@bffr.social. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
10. California privacy rights (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose; to request deletion or correction of your personal information; and to not be discriminated against for exercising your rights. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under California law. To make a request, email support@bffr.social. We will verify your request and respond as required by law.
11. EU/UK users (GDPR)
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we process your information based on legal grounds such as performing our contract with you, our legitimate interests in operating and securing the Service, your consent, and compliance with legal obligations. You may have additional rights under the GDPR, including the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.
12. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will take reasonable steps to notify you and update the date above. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Policy.
